TRADITIONAL JEWISH-ITALIAN DESSERTS FOR HOLY DAYS & OBSERVANCES

Ramsey, NJ - The Jewish Holy Days & Observances begin in September. We are therefore excited to present Chef Andrea's latest Jewish-Italian dessert menu for the holidays. The Jewish community in Italy dates back to the second century BCE and it is the oldest Jewish community in Europe.  Yet, despite their important influence on Italian cuisine, Jewish-Italian's culinary heritage is mostly unheralded. Fortunately, interest in Jewish-Italian cuisine has recently been growing, in Italy and in Israel. It is estimated that in the United States there are currently 10,000 Jewish-Italian descendants, mostly living in the greater New York area.

Chef Andrea Guastella, Co-Owner and Executive Pastry Chef, regarding this year's menu, stated "In the United States, most Jewish people are Ashkenazim or Sephardic and naturally observe their own culinary customs. My goal is to introduce and promote traditional and contemporary Jewish-Italian desserts for the holidays. Our revised annual holiday menu makes accessible these delicious desserts. My goal is to spark interest in all Jewish people, as well in anyone who loves Italian culture and cuisine. My hope is people will try the desserts, enjoy them and ultimately adopt and use these wonderful desserts as a supplement to their own cuisine and help keep these endangered Jewish-Italian dessert traditions alive. I am, by the way, happy to share my recipes with anyone who is interested."

As part of our mission, we maintain an ever changing seasonal, holiday and special event driven menu. We celebrate the many people and cultural influences Italians have experienced over the millennia and how it is reflected in our sophisticated and varied dessert cuisine.

L’ARTE DELLA PASTICCERIA 9TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Ramsey, NJ - We are excited to be celebrating our 9th Anniversary! On Sunday, August 14th between 11AM and 1PM, Executive Chef Andrea and our staff will be welcoming and thanking all of our loyal customers with a free cup of our artisanal Granita.

Granita is a semi-frozen Sicilian dessert made using sugar, water and various fresh fruit and nut flavorings. It is not a sorbet nor an Italian ice. Instead, granita is much smoother and has a crystalline texture. Real granita is not often available in the United States so it is special, just like our friends and customers.

We will also have our Piaggio Ape, and a classic Alfa Romeo, parked out front for photo opts!
