In each bite you’ll discover unique and fresh flavors, artfully combined, to guarantee you a truly delicious Italian pastry experience. They are made by us on premises from scratch daily. Our chef personally selects the finest quality ingredients working with local farmers, as well as importing some special ingredients directly from Italy. So whether you are coming in just for a well deserved treat or celebrating a special occasion, you will find that our pastries are perfect for all occasions.

BABA’ AL RUM typical Neapolitan yeast cake heavily soaked in rum Syrup. Try it plain or topped with fresh and seasonal fruits.

SFOGLIATELLA NAPOLETANA most famous Neapolitan dessert available in 2 versions: RICCIA (most known and typical for its extremely crunchy shell) and FROLLA (less famous but originally the first sfogliatella to be created in Naple in a convent of nuns). Both of them are filled with italian ricotta and italian candied oranges.

CORNETTI

Cornetti are the higher expression of the italian way to have breakfast… plain, filled, dipped in a cappuccino… every way you want! Our cornetti are made from scratch using the finest high quality ingredients available. The all process to make the cornetti takes about 3 days. The first day we make the dough adding some of our authentic 20 years old natural yeast, the following day our chefs “laminate” layers of dough with the butter for 3 times… after the dough “rest” in the refrigerator we start rolling the cornetti and after that we place our cornetti in a proofer overnight where we can control temperature and humidity. And the third day we can finally bake them! It’s a long process necessary to preserve and respect the quality of the ingredients and to ensure that the final product is crispy, fluffy and of course..delicious!

Gelato is a cultural treasure from Italy and at L'Arte we make our own on premises. It is made in small batches, contains more milk than cream, making it freeze at a lower temperature and taste cooler, lighter and, more refreshing. It is churned slower than ice-cream, so it has a lot less air, is more dense and has a more intense flavor profile.

Sorbetto is dairy free and terrific for dieters watching their fat and calorie intake. Sorbetto, like gelato, is slowly stirred, which makes for a dense frozen treat. Popular sorbetto flavors are orange, lemon, raspberry, and mango but we are adventurous, so don't be surprised to see unusual ingredients at L'Arte like mint, basil or rosemary for unique and surprising flavor in this popular sweet treat.

A Granita is a favorite Italian and summertime treat! It has a crunchy texture due to the freezing process. As the liquid freezes, it forms large-size ice crystals, which are not present in a sorbetto because of the stirring required. Our granita is served, just like in Italy, as a slush-type drink in cup or bowl form.

PIZZA

Our pizza is not just a regular pizza! We make the dough using a special durum wheat flour imported directly from Sicily named RUSSELLO. The Russello is an ancient grain that have been cultivated for centuries only in Sicily, GMO free, low in gluten but rich of proteins and considerably less refined of many other varieties of flour. This mean more respect for the nature, for the grain itself, for the local small farmers and for your health! A touch of extra virgin olive oil, natural yeast, salt and water finish the dough and after that we only add some house-made italian tomato sauce , fontina and italian herbs. A few ingredients for a great taste! (Available Saturday and Sunday only)


ARANCINI (Rice Ball)

Originating in 10th century Sicily, we make ours the traditional way: beef and pork ragù, peas and carrots, mozzarella and we give them the traditional flame shape typical of the southern regions of Sicily; then we cover the arancini in our house-made bread crumbs and we deep fry them to the perfection! L’Arte’s drip coffee is a custom blend roasted exclusively for us by Jersey Shore Coffee Roasters. It pairs perfectly with our baked products and yet is bold enough to stand alone. Our roastmasters, Andy and Paul, have for 30 years been dedicated to the art of craft roasting. They roast only in small batches, and therefore are able to expertly develop our coffee’s unique characteristics and full flavor potential. L’Arte and Jersey Shore Coffee Roasters support sustainable farming practices, fair trade, and improving the lives of the farmers who grow and harvest our beans. Accordingly, not only do our sourcing practices support our beliefs, but we donate annually to various coffee farmer’s charities.

When it came time for us to select an espresso roaster, we decided to eschew common northern Italian brands. Instead we selected a small Neapolitan roaster, Kimbo, which was founded by two brothers in their father's bakery! Southern Italian espresso roasts are darker, bolder, full-bodied and with a fuller mouth-feel than northern Italian roasts which tend to be a lighter, delicate and more watery. At L'Arte we proudly serve Kimbo Espresso, roasted in Italy, in the Neapolitan tradition.


At L’Arte we use a traditional La Pavoni Lever Espresso Machine. The lever model in our shop is their signature machine, one of only a handful in this country. At L'Arte, we believe that our lever machine allows us to give you the best tasting, most unique and authentic espresso experience because it allows us to control every part of the brewing process. Our baristas grind the beans, tamp them, operate the lever, pull the shot, etc. At L'Arte we have complete control over the brewing process verses using factory settings found in mechanized "push the button" machines so common today. Anyway...we think the lever machine is cool...and sometimes, that is reason enough!
